Rikke Makes A Children’s Book With Art From Your Child

Rikke makes a children's book with art from your child

k zie, ik zie… en wat jij zie’ is a creative challenge by Rikke Lever. She is a collage artist and mother of two girls, Fiep (3) and Loulou (1). With the painting skills of perhaps your own child, she makes collage illustrations for a new children’s book.

One of Rikke’s biggest dreams is to make a children’s book in collage style. Rikke – “When I was painting with Fiep, she shouted; ‘Look mom, a shark!’ And damn, I saw it too. It immediately gave me an idea. I started experimenting with her painting skills in combination with my collage cutouts and knew; this is the style I want for my book.”

‘I SEE, I SEE… AND WHAT DO YOU SEE?’

But Rikke also immediately saw that this idea could be much bigger; a co-production of her and your children’s drawings! And so her project ‘I see, I see… and what do you see?’ was born. With the (paint) arts of as many children as possible, she wants to make many more of these types of collage illustrations. The most beautiful ones, accompanied by little stories, will be bundled in her children’s book.

Are you joining? Send your kid(s)’s art to the above address. It would be nice if:

  • The (paint) drawing(s) is/are not larger than A3 size
  • The paper is still completely intact (no tears, bubbles and/or folds in the paper is not a problem)
  • The back has your child’s name + date of birth written in pencil and your email address
  • Preference for paint and/or drawings made with marker and bright colors
  • The paper is used widthwise/horizontally
  • The representation is (fairly) abstract (toddler/preschool level)
